I'm Ray, the owner of AI DARTS. The simplest reason I opened this place is that I genuinely love throwing darts, and I love a good time. But more than "opening a darts bar," what I actually wanted to build was a cyberpunk-style space.
Cyberpunk, to me, is a shelter
The whole point of cyberpunk as a genre is finding somewhere to breathe in a future with too many rules, at the edge of the end of the world. Modern life already has enough rules: rules at work, rules for social situations, even having fun gets scrutinized. What AI DARTS wants to be is that shelter. Walk in, and you can set those outside rules down. Get a feel for the world at hole.aidarts.club.
I don't want to tell you what to do here
I don't assume you're here for any one thing. Want to play darts seriously? Go for it. Want to just eat a hot dog and have a drink? Also fine. Want to make friends, fall in love, or just talk to someone about how your week's going? All of that works. The only thing I actually care about is whether you had fun, whether you genuinely relaxed. There's no rulebook telling you how to use this place. That's up to you.
We barely advertise, on purpose
I don't spend much on marketing. The reason is simple: I want the people who walk in to genuinely relate to what this space is about, finding it through a friend telling a friend, not through an ad that pulls people in who don't get what's happening here. Building a community that way is slower, but it's more real.
The gamification is your 20-year-old self's idea of fun, made real
Turning the membership into a game, tracking your stats, comparing with others, unlocking achievements, isn't about making a retention dashboard look good. It's about letting people relive everything they imagined fun would be like at 20: meeting new people, falling for someone, just playing, just being happy, without carrying too much baggage while doing it. No cover charge is something I insist on
A lot of friends ask me: no cover charge, can you actually keep this running? Honestly, it's hard. But it's something I insist on for this place. I don't want "spending pressure" to be the barrier to walking in, and I don't want people carrying the mental weight of a minimum spend on top of everything else. I don't know how long I can keep it up, but the idea is worth pushing for as long as I can.
Running a place in Taipei with no cover charge and barely any rules is genuinely not easy. It takes everyone who walks in bringing a bit of self-restraint and mutual understanding to keep this space alive, not store rules enforcing it, but people who actually care about this place.
