250 pros surveyed: what's actually worth practicing to get better

DARTSLIVE ran a series of surveys polling around 250 JAPAN tour pros on how they think about practice and improvement — not one player's opinion, but a whole batch of pros answering the same questions. Here's what we could find from two entries in the series.

Part 3: what's actually worth practicing

The survey asked about "practice methods that work" and "practice methods that are a total waste of time." Over 130 respondents said there's no such thing as a pointless practice method — in other words, more than half of these 250 pros believe that if you're practicing seriously, the method itself isn't the wasted part.

Part 4: what does "getting better" even mean

The final part of the series asked what "getting better" actually means. The takeaway: there's more than one way to improve, and 68% of respondents felt their mental game had gotten stronger — not just their technique. A lot of these pros consider mental growth a real, significant part of improving.

What this means for amateur players

The consensus among 250 pros pushes back a bit on the idea that "you have to follow one specific standard routine to get better." Even the pros themselves say methods vary widely, and mental improvement matters more than people assume. If you've been second-guessing whether your practice method is "wrong," this survey's answer might put you at ease: there's no single right way.
