If it's your first time heading to AI DARTS in Taipei's East District, here's everything you might want to know beforehand: how to find it, how to play, what to eat, and the house rules. Read this and just go.
How to find it
The address is No.1, Aly. 15, Ln. 345, Sec. 4, Ren'ai Rd, Da'an District, Taipei 106. It's in the area around Zhongxiao E. Rd and Ren'ai Rd that locals call the "East District" (東區), a short walk from the Bannan Line between Zhongxiao Dunhua and Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall stations. The lanes here are quieter, and street parking at night is easier than on the main roads.
Hours and house rules
- Open 24 hours, every day of the year: when everywhere else has closed, this place is still open.
- No cover charge, weekdays and weekends alike. No surprise "Friday night" surcharge.
- You can bring your own drinks: bring whatever you feel like (during counter hours, more than 3 bottles of alcohol per person is a NT$50 per-person cleaning fee).
- English-speaking travellers and residents are welcome; the staff will help you get set up.
How to play the boards
It's a full set of Phoenix electronic (soft-tip) dartboards. Never played? Just ask the staff. The common games:
- Count-Up: highest total score over a fixed number of rounds. Best for getting started.
- 01 games (301 / 501): the classic format; your PPD (points per dart) is the number to watch.
- Cricket: more strategic; your MPR (marks per round) is the number that matters.
If you're an AI DARTS member, your scores go straight onto the leaderboards and your points can be traded for shop credit or board time.
What to eat
